From this research, we found that we will act on the comments made concerning the boyfriend and girlfriend's clothing. We were glad that illness was an aspect people expected to see in a drama film as this is the key concept to our trailer and film. Love was something else expected to be in a drama, which again adds to our opinion that a couple will be more effective than a family drama. We will try to build in shots of landscapes, and shots showing the relationship and sadness.
Demographics
Our demographic target audience we will aim to be is from B (middle-class, administrative or professional) through to E (unemployed students), although this demographics background may be from A-C1. Psychographics Our psychographic target audience will be to aim at aspirers and individualists, this will be due to the idea our film proposes that anyone can succeed and strive through anything. The individualists may be drawn to the emotional side of the film. |
Target Audience
After researching into other drama films, we found the common audiences for ones concerning conflict in love were mainly females around 16-30. This may be due to the idea that true love can be found and many women around this age have not yet found a partner. Themes such as illness, compassion and strength in love tend to be empathised more to by females as they can relate better than males. Females also tend to want to see films coined as 'tearjerkers', this is in order to be reminded of what they have in life, they tend to also then want an uplift at the end of the film, to revolve the sadness. We believe our film idea will have all of these points and therefore our main target audience will be females 16-30. They will most likely either be single and going to view the film with 'girl' friends, or in a relationship and bringing their partner along in order to share an emotional experience. Therefore we need to ensure our film has aspects that a male audience can relate too. We can use the male gaze to attract the men to our female character and therefore our film, another aspect that we feel may appeal to males is the twist in the storyline concerning the female asking the male to kill her. This builds tension and intense drama which tend to be appealing to males. |
